Suggesting an alteration to shard rules.
Your ideas explored.Re: Suggesting an alteration to shard rules.

I don't support the idea of further encouraging GMs have to save characters just because of a lower playerbase. It should be completely up to the GM.
Like Daggoth says, Permadeath is a part of the shard. I personally enjoy the fact that PD is a possibility anywhere at anytime, and that everything has its own consequences.
I enjoy my characters, and while I have a certain destiny in mind for them, I do accept the fact that they might get killed before they reach their own goal. It's just the way it is, also in life.
I don't think making the server more "cushy" for a while will solve the problem of few players - it will give people the wrong impression about what this shard is all about, unless you decide to change it to a more "Trammel"-like state of being, which is your choice, of course. And imagine what wailing there will be when the old toughness is enforced! Not good!
Sorry, this turned a bit longer than what I meant it to. To reiterate:
I fully support the idea of allowing GMs to drag players to safety incharacter. I do not support the idea of making it a part of the rules. It is not something that you should be allowed to expect every time you're in deep trouble and a GM happens to be online. If you want to stay safe, stay in the inn. Although as Tinili knows from New Dardain, that's not a completely safe place either!

Never said that GMs were to be forced to rescue players, just that they should be encouraged to if it made justifiable rp sense. And if there were any rules blocking the rescue of players, even if it made rp sense, that those rules should be removed.
Sorry if somehow my words were ambiguous. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to clarify.

Honestly...I've saved players more then once when they were in a "shitty" situation. There's few on the the staff that wouldn't I think. This in no way needs to be a rule...
A courtesy sure...but thats about it.

I'm glad to see that there are no rules preventing staff from rescuing players, I thought that there was. But there aren't, and come find out staff actually are encourage to do a save when it makes sense. It makes me all warm an fuzzy on the inside. There never were any problems, the system is sound. The Oldman is an idiot n00b. HUZZAH!Anyway, I think we've exhausted this one. Mind if we get a lock on the subject?

I think we've gone over as much as we can on this topic, as per Oldman's request. I lockth it.
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice
Is also great And would suffice.-R.F.
